Black Women United for Action presents The Healing

Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater.

Before we entered the Terrace auditorium. We stood on the Roof Terrace which wraps around the entire building, providing a wonderful view of Washington and Virginia. To the southeast, you can see the Jefferson Memorial, and the Washington Monument. To the north, you can see the Watergate.
On the first level, the River Terrace, you can see the Potomac River, Georgetown University, the National Cathedral, Theodore Roosevelt Island, and the Roosevelt Bridge.

Such a beautiful site: a variety of boats, yachts moving down the Potomac. There were also lots of restaurants on the waterfront.



This was the beginning of the Black Women United for Action commemoration of their 25th Anniversary of the Slave Memorial, which was dedicated at Historic Mount Vernon in recognition of the slaves who lived and worked there, with a special musical presentation honoring the Memory of the Victims of September 11, 2001.

The Healing program featured performances by:

--Howard University Choir, James W. Norris, director

--Fifth Grade Chorus of Jamestown Elementary School, Deborah Moore, accompanist; Darnell Crewe Wise Lightbourn, choral director (this group has sung for the Queen);

--Juanita DeShazior, singer and entertainer

--St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School Chamber String Orchestra, Dr. James Criswell, director

and, we, The Intermezzo Choir Ministry of Philadelphia, directed by our anointed and talented,
Dr. Verolga Nix, closed the program out with "Fear Not," "King Jesus Is A Listening" led by Karen Highsmith Donnell; "Sinnuh Don't Let Dis Harvest Past" led by Jocelyn T. Gilliard and our signature song, "Holy" with prayer by Nathaddeus Myers. We were accompanied by William "Duke" Wilson, percussion.
Each song was well received by the audience who seemed mesmerized by such beautiful arrangements and the professionalism demonstrated by each soloist as well as the entire aggregation. They loved the skill and exuberance with which Dr. Nix executed each selection.

One lady stated, "I have NEVER heard anything like this!"
